Workforce of the Future in Biopharmaceuticals

There is a shortage of workers in the Biopharmaceutical Industry. The specific areas where qualified professionals are needed most are in advanced manufacturing, cell and gene therapies, and combination products.

Antonio Moreira, Ph.D. Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at UMBC brought awareness to this current shortage at the ISPE Biotech Manufacturing virtual conference. It is estimated that 20,000 new workers will be needed in the next five to 10 years in gene and cell therapies and continuous manufacturing.
