Stay on top of this semester!

It can be hard to focus on school after taking a break, especially after the long winter break we just had. Here are a few tips to help you get back on track and make the most out of this semester!

Write it down

Whether you get a planner, the notes app on your phone, or a whiteboard, writing your responsibilities down will help you remember what things you have to get done for each of your classes. This way you can get your work done ahead of time and not have that moment of panic when you realize you forgot to do your assignment that is due in 15 minutes.

Stick to a schedule

This goes along with the previous point. Writing your work down will help you remember, and applying that to a schedule will make your life so much easier. Say you have six assignments due this week: two homework assignments for Math, a project for Science, an essay for English, and two readings for Psychology. Make a schedule where you can get one to two things done per day (prioritizing by importance and due date) and you’ll have everything done in no time with no rush!

Take a break

Breaks are very important for everyone. Working continuously can cause a lot of stress, especially when studying, so it’s always important to take a step back and breathe. Whether you go out for a walk, play a game, or call a friend up, take a short break for every thirty minutes of work and your brain will thank you.

Stay Connected

Staying connected is always important. Don’t just stay connected to your family and friends, though. Your professors, advisors, and peers are great resources for you to bounce ideas off of, and ask questions to. You never know who they have connections with; they could link you with your next boss!

These are a few things that help me stay on track during the busy semester, and hopefully they help you, too. Work hard and make the best out of this semester, Retrievers!
