New Cybersecurity Start-Up Launches

A new start-up cybersecurity company, Cyves, was launched recently by UMBC’s George Karabatis, associate professor of information systems, and Ahmed AlEroud M.S. ‘12, information systems, Ph.D. ‘14, information systems. TEDCO, an organization created by the Maryland State Legislature to support tech entrepreneurship, and InnovativeTech Ventures, led by Gerard Eldering, generated the funding through a grant and investments.


UMBC to lead a new $3 million research partnership

Through a five-year grant from the NSF Industry-University Cooperative Research Centers (IUCRC) program, UMBC will launch the Center of Accelerated Real Time Analytics (CARTA). UMBC will receive $150,000 in support for each of the next five years. Through CARTA, UMBC faculty and students will work on projects tackling concerns of national and global significance.


UMBC to Host Its 40th Graduate Research Conference

Master’s and Ph.D. students will have a chance to share their work, receive constructive criticism on their communication skills, and connect with researchers from all corners of the university at this year’s conference.


U.S. News: UMBC Graduate Programs Among Best in Country

According to the 2019 U.S. News Best Graduate Schools rankings, UMBC Graduate Programs are among the best nationwide.
